The Vibe for This Fall Is Chic
Out with the North Face puffers, in with the chic trench coats.. she says until winter comes. Then, I will be reaching for my North Face puffer, but let’s cross that bridge when we get to it.
I love fall. I truly feel like fall is the peak season for fashion. In the summer, it’s too hot to wear more than one-layer pieces. Jorts, t-shirt, flip-flops pretty much summed up my summer outfit recipe (occasionally swapping out the jorts for Adidas shorts). But fall offers endless layering possibilities. Bring on the trenchcoats, sweaters, Dr. Martens, leg warmers, and scarves.
I am currently on the market for a good trench coat. Beige, long, with buttons, and preferably a tie at the neck which adds a chic element. That’s just it. Fall is so chic. Scarves draping over funnel jackets, beautiful blue wash denim, and a cute boot - maybe a flat or tabi before it gets too chilly or rainy. Throw on a cute pair of glasses, even if they don’t have a prescription. They can be an accessory too. Very chic.
My bag is also perfect for the fall. Knockoff Balenciaga City Bag from Free People. Still expensive, yes, but not near the astronomical price of even a used City Bag from The Real Real - trust me, I checked. I am really into the casual jeans and t-shirt (in this case sweater for the fall) and an oversized distressed bag.
The most difficult part of dressing for colder weather is the effort and the idea of having to sacrifice comfort. I get it. You wake up, it’s 30º outside, all you want to do is throw on sweats and a hoodie. But is that really worth the comfort for the walk to class just to feel sloppy let alone unproductive when you get there? Not for me. Throw on the jeans, get those heeled boots that have been sitting in your closet collecting dust, grab a sweater, trench and a scarf. You’ll be surprised, what a difference it makes to your day. Plus, don’t you want to piss some people off with how good you look?
